You may know that Long Lake and Sandy Lake were two of the city’s “jewels in the crown” selected in the early 1970s to be regional parks. It is wonderful that your hard work resulted in creation of Long Lake Provincial Park. We at Sandy Lake are still struggling to protect this area. I am writing to ask if you, one of our sister jewels, would consent to lend your organization’s name to our coalition of groups in support of realizing this park. It was recognized in the Halifax Green Network Plan as an important link in the chain of parks (including Long Lake) protecting the Chebucto Peninsula. However, it is under intense development pressure and it is now or never. May I speak or email with someone in your group about this? We are designing the coalition to require little or not effort on your part. I hope you will let me explain.
