Wondering when will the next meeting be held? I would also like to volunteer and become a member of LLPPA. In my opinion and several other residents of the immediate neighborhood of Long Lake Park feel the nature park is becoming too commercial in a residential neighborhood and deteriorating the true beauty of Long Lake Park. Having the commercial signage of Long Lake Adventure Rentals( Poly Corp) displayed 24/7 is an eye sore for the community. Please reply , thanks
At this time we have no projects on the go, we are going to be soon doing a membership drive and asking volunteers to sign on with us, we will post this on the site when we get to that point., Please keep in touch as we do want more community involvement in the park.
The Launch area parking lot is the size that Natural Resources approved for us, we are talking about how to make it better for more users, and we are interested in what ideas people might have, soon we will be starting a membership drive for LLPPA to get more community involved in the park. Please stay tuned for that announcement.
There was a rather large tent, covered in tarps , at the branch in the trail that takes you either way around Witherod Lake, and there appeared to be people inside.( today, Nov 11/18, about 4 pm) There was also evidence of household garbage in the nearest garbage can , including canned goods cans, bread bags, etc. The can was overflowing, so it was hard to miss! Is this an approved campsite? It is the first time I’ve encountered this activity in this area of the park. It is a lovely place, and the association has done a great job. Thanks!!
Was walking at the park Nov 11, about 4 p.m., and there was quite a large tent, covered in blue tarps , set up where the path diverges to take the loop around Witherod Lake ( near where the large rock with signage is) There appeared to be people inside, and the nearest waste buckets had household garbage ie tin cans, bread bags , etc. Not sure if the 2 observations are related, but just thought I’d ask: is camping permitted anywhere in the park? Also wanted to thank the volunteers for the wonderful job they do in the park!!
Hello, Well the 2019 season is off and running nicely. The walking trail is in good shape and I like the new very large Dogs Must Be on A Leash Signs, well done. However I guess that the dog walkers who use the trail system can’t READ !!! I would say on the average hike we would come across 6-10 dog walkers who totally ignore the signage. Sooooooooo what can be done about this because most certainly the threat of $180 fine has NO affect ! One final small criticism is the garbage pails at the entrance are full of dog poop bags.
Sorry to start the year off with negative thoughts but it’s got to be said.
