Who is the LLPPA?

LLPA stands for the Long Lake Provincial Park Association, which is a group of volunteers committed to developing and protecting Long Lake Provincial Park.

Who can join Long Lake Provincial Park Association?

Membership to LLPPA is open to anyone; we have board members and volunteers who help out with various tasks. The board is current full but opportunities to volunteer on one of our committees are always available.

Who manages the trail at Long Lake?

The LLPPA is responsible for trail maintenance, signage, and development.

Does Long Lake receive funding from the provincial government?

Long Lake is not part of the provincial budget. Funding comes solely from private sources and government grants.

What is the planned trail extension?

The trail extension will connect the existing Active Transport trail on Northwest Arm Drive to the historic dam and picnic area on Old Sambro Road. This extension will run along existing foot trails through the woods along Old Sambro Road. The trails will include lakeside access for swimming, and at the end of these trails an old pumphouse site will be converted into a kayak launch and picnic area with a gazebo and additional parking.

When will the trail be extended?

Pending final approval, the LLPA hopes to begin work on the Old Sambro Road extension in late summer 2016.
